The Youth Engagement Programme is a registered charity that helps vulnerable young people who have difficulty integrating into the community and finding work. Although the group has only been going since 2016, it has already developed an impressive array of social enterprises to employ the youngsters (5 and counting) as well as other life and skill enhancing programmes. All of these help the young people develop marketable skills, build relationships and in general take control of their lives.
The Freshwater Foundation was able to support the creation of one of the social enterprises (a mobile coffee van), through the purchase of a coffee machine, giving part-time employment to 4 young people and aiding them with their fund-raising efforts. We are also working closely with the Youth Engagement Programme in developing their governance, management and benefits assessment capabilities.
