Actonians Girls & Ladies FC is a self-funded amateur club that provide football for women and girls of all ages and abilities. They start with ‘mini-kickers’ sessions for the youngest, run a number of teams for girls aged 9-16 and have 3 adult women’s teams. Participants range from those who have never played before, up to the first team, who participate in the FA’s women’s national league. Their members come from all different backgrounds which creates a diverse and inclusive environment where football helps connect people who would perhaps not otherwise interact. They aim to create a family atmosphere and players and parents invest in the club with their time, money and love.
The funding from the Freshwater Foundation has helped them add some much-needed training space for their ever-growing club, as well running extra fitness sessions and the women’s casual sessions which helps them cater for everyone and promote a healthy lifestyle.
